To call or not to call.....

Back history, just after the end of the baseball season, Adam got a phone call at 11pm on a Saturday night. It was a friend of his letting him know that 2 kids were planning to paint ball our house. They had tried to talk his friends brother into doing it as well. He went along with them in order to talk them out of it. I immediately contacted Glendale PD and asked for extra supervision and then sat in my dining room window until 3:30 in the morning. I watched the kids little white car drive by at least 3 times that night. I called his home number and left a message for his parents letting them know what their son was planning on doing. I later found out that he heard the message first and erased it. Approximately 3-4 weeks ago I found egg on my car at 7am. I did not call the police just washed my car, and yelled at Adam to tell his "friends" to back off or I would. I told Adam to let them know if it happened again I would not hesitate in calling the police. This morning I found egg on my car at 7:10 am. After calling Glendale PD I called the High School's Principal and reported it to him. It is my belief that this has something to do with the end of the baseball season with the coach being suspended from the last game. I spoke with Glendale PD and received a report #. He advised me to have the School Resource Officer speak to the boys and let them know they are being implicated. He took down their names and said he may check with the school to find out if they are in school today. The Principal advised me to call the parents of the kids I believe to be involved. Adam has asked me not to. I feel that as a parent I would want to know. Any advice out there?

Thinking

Kathy and I were talking this morning and realized that not only is Marisa pregnant but she is going to have a baby...a baby girl...an Amazon Van Houten Woman. Maybe we should warn the doctor.

Just about ready

I took today off to get things ready for the shower and I think I am almost there. After a trip to Michaels, Costco, 99cent store and Ralph's, I have a ham, a turkey breast, some meatballs and chicken wings, potato salad, regular salad and I'm going to make the baked beans. Then with a veggie tray and cheese and crackers that should suffice about 50 people. I still need to clean the house cuz some people said they wanted to come over and see the baby's room. I don't like calling it a nursery because it is Marisa's room still. But she has the crib set up and some sheets and blankets home made from Sheilah at Muir. All of course with Pooh on them. So that means tomorrow is cooking and cleaning day. I hope to get everything done pretty early in the evening because I have sneak preview tickets for "In Her Shoes" tomorrow night. I loved the book, just hope the movie is as good. We also need to go to the party store for the decorations. I am borrowing the helium tank from the Muir PTA and getting balloons from the balloon place this evening. Details, details, details. Damn I still need to get drinks, all I have is water. I probably won't blog between now and then. SO wish me luck!

Thunder Rolls

We have had almost consistent thunder since 8am. It is cool yet creepy. Some of the schools have lost electricity. Did you know you can run a school without electricity but not without running water? You can have no electricity all day and they will not shut down the school. But if you have no water for over 1 hour you will be shut down and will have to find a way to send everyone home.

Long time no blog

I didn't realize how long it has been since I blogged.

Since my last update, we still don't have a new Principal, although the PA has stepped up very nicely and is doing well.

Marisa and I are getting things ready for the shower. We sent out ~95 invitations and have 45 positive RSVP's so far. We asked for responses before 9/10 but that doesn't mean anything anymore. It started out innocently enough. We were going to hold one shower for her friends and one for mine. But then we realized why do everything twice. So we added the lists together and then added Kathy's and voila we ended at about 90 something. When we were about 50ish I thought no big deal half will come we can accomodate them in the house. We've done it before. But then as the lists were growing and growing and the rsvps were coming in, Kathy had the inginuity to book the Boy Scout House. Since it is right across the street we don't even have to send out changes. We have also put Kathy in charge of games. She has come up with many ideas and mom has emailed me some stuff as well. So Ris and I have been shopping our hearts out at Big Lots and Target. Did you know that Target has a "Clearance Circuit"? If you walk around the back perimeter you hit the back endcaps where they keep all the clearance stuff. It's the first thing I do now whenever we go to Target. We got a bunch of great stuff and for less than $1 each! Quite a few people will be bringing their kids which range from 18 months to 11 years, so we got each of them a little gift type prize. I am planning on a menu to match the campaign party, although I don't know what I will do without mom here to help me. Pinwheels, meatballs and weinies and Erika is sending me a baked bean recipe. we should be all set. I just have to arrange for decorations and then get started on the actual cooking and freezing.

Adam started school last week. He came home on the first day and said "I like all my teachers except one". Although I think that's a pretty good start, I don't see how you can determine if you like someone in 1 hours time! He is not taking baseball this year. For Fall he is in a regular PE class and for Spring he will try out for the Golf team. He and Michael have been playing quite a bit lately. As a matter of fact, Adam and Taj are at the Driving Range as I type.

Marisa is adorable. Her belly is getting bigger and more beautiful by the day. I have yet to feel the baby kick, but I will keep trying!
