Bank Hold up

I tried to make a quick stop at the bank on Friday. My bank is not far and usually I can make it there do my transaction and make it home within a half hour. Now try it with a toddler...........

Pull into the parking space, I get out and start to get Cait out of her car seat, when she decides it is time for her to lean how to do this action on her own. Ok, I am all about learning but car seat undoing? no, not willing to teach that. So I persevere and win, she is out by my doing. Of course she doesn't want to be held she wants to walk. Fine walk but you have to hold my hand. That wasn't going to happen until she saw the other cars moving towards us then she grabbed my hand and my leg.

As we get to the door, I see there is no line- good this will be quick. Once inside, my hand is empty and Cait has run to the TOY. Ok, I can see her at the toy from the line, ok I can see her from the teller, if I step back a bit from the teller and yell my account number and password to the teller from that far away. (I have since changed the password) The teller senses my angst at the baby being away and is very quick. I go to Cait and say let's go bye bye now. With a pointed finger I get NO! She wants to play. As you can see in the picture this toy is as big as her, in order to reach some of the top parts, she has to climb on the side of the other parts.

After 15 minutes of playing I started walking to the door. BYe Caity, Grandma is leaving. She turned and looked at me like she was trying to decide if I really would leave. Turned back to her toy for a quick toss of beads and then ran to me and then turned back to the toy and said "bye".

She really is too much.

Num Nuts

Now that I am a member of the unemployed, I decided to register with a Temp. Agency. I figured it wouldn't be nice to look for a full time job, get an offer (yes, I am optimistic that anyone I meet will offer me a job), and then request 3 weeks off in June for my cruise. So a temp agency is the way to go.

Anywho, Kathy knows someone from ABWA and she told me to come in on Monday morning for an "interview". What it actually was for is testing. I tested in MS Word, Excel and general typing. I Loathe testing of any kind. I get nervous and second guess myself all the time. The MS tests were on the computer and gave you a second (and third) chance at the end to go over the questions you got wrong and try again, well I got more then I liked wrong but still had 15 minutes of the 30 minute timed test, so I went back for more tries. After feeling like I didn't care anymore, because I didn't do well enough to please myself, I went ahead and went on to the typing test. I have never been a great typer. I can type without looking but lack the self confidence to not glance down and trust myself to type the right thing. Then if I make a mistake I have to go back and fix it immediately, I can not leave it there to be counted in against the time. It was a 5 minute test with a script to copy. I got almost halfway through when the timer went off. Oh well, I flubbed that one too.

I let them know i am done and wait to be "interviewed". The agent calls me in the office and congratulates me on my wonderful test results. She informs me that I scored way above the average for MS Word, that their average is like 56 (I'm thinking in my head, that's an F and that's your average?). Then she gives me my Excel score of 88 and tells me their average for that is in the 60's. WHAT!? Then my typing was 51 and she was IMPRESSED with that. I wanted to laugh so badly, but hey, if it means getting me work rock on.

But with the temperatures reaching over a hundred this week, fire season has begun early.

This is one of my favorite mountains, it is the Hollywood Hills and home to Griffith Park. It houses our Zoo, the great Christmas Light Show, the Observatory and the infamous Greek Theatre. Today is the 3rd fire on that mountain since March 1. This is the view from across the street from my house. Click on it for other views.

For those that know the area, I became aware of this fire not while I was home, but when I was leaving Mary's house. I got on the 101 at Winnetka and saw the smoke, then made the curve at about White Oak (just before the 405) and could see flames from that far away.
