I love to bake. I have blogged about the Baking Gals before and how we ship out cookies and goodies to the troops overseas. Today I want to introduce you to Tara. She is This Military Mama and her and her lovely daughter helped to rescue my trip to BlogHer08. Her husband has been deployed again and well just go over to her site and read all about it.

Baking Gals, Holiday Edition

Since I was travelling around with my sisters I chose not to host this round. But I was still planning on baking and shipping.

The lovely Beth who has shipped on my teams before stepped up and hosted for a 22 year old soldier from Nebraska.

I totally was planning what I would make, even went so far as to find things from different holidays for everyone (I am very PC about holidays). But in the end I was tired and late and ended up raiding the Bake Sale at our local high school today. I shipped off a bunch of cookies and individual breads and brownies and each in their own little holiday bag. It looks very festive and will make a wonderful care package.

I have two regrets, one is that I didn't take a picture before I shipped and the other is I think I left the price tags on each little bag. Oh well, the best of intentions.

Baking Gals Round 4

Once again I hosted an Operatin Baking Gals round. But this time I had a bit of a connection with the soldier we were shipping to. A few years ago I belonged to an online gaming community that played DOminoes. It was through Yahoo and called the Fishtank. We had tournaments and I would play throughout the day (that was when the whole debacle with my former employer first started and I was being paid to sit home and do nothing). I drifted away from there but "met" up with one of the people that ran the league earlier this year on Twitter. Nutzareus was the name he used on the league and I immediately recognized it when I saw it on Twitter. He would Tweet about his time in Iraq and the work he was doing on the supply base.

Unfortunately this round I didn't have as many in my group as last round, but I still think we did pretty well with what we sent.

Sue from Stanley Cupcakes sent Snickerdoodles Espresso Nutella Cookies and Chocolate Sugar Cookies. She also included books and dvd's in her box.
Beth from Someone's in the Kitchen With Brina sent Granola Grabbers, Snickerdoodles and Mandel Bread.

I will be unable to host in the next round as I will be travelling during the prep time. But I will definately be aprticipating when I get back.

Operation Baking Gals

Welcome to Adrienne's House sit down, relax, put your feet up. Heck put your feet on the furniture, we don't mind around here.

Our soldier this time around is Sgt. Mark Martin of Chatsworth Georgia. He is a father of 3 stationed in Iraq at Camp Victory inside Baghdad on his THIRD TOUR of duty! He is quoted in "The View From the Right" regarding the back-to-back deployments of troops as saying "We are so stretched that constantly, if we are not training back home, we are here."

Camp Victory is the primary component of the Victory Base Complex which occupies the area surrounding the Baghdad International Airport. It has several living support areas; Freedom Village,[2] and Dodge Cities North and South, along with building 51F, which is commonly known as "Area 51". There are also two smaller living areas reserved for government contractors, as well as a third for employees of an Iraqi contracting company.

But what it doesn't have is fresh baked cookies and muffins!

Personally, I think I will be making some Tollhouse chocolate chips and some good ol Rice Krispie Treats. Wouldn't you like to join me in some baking fun? Please leave a comment to join this team. I will email you the details.
