I have a raging headache today and have chosen not to partake in any Fourth of July Festivities, but I found fireworks from all across the nation on Spreety to watch.
Is your dog itching, scratching and stinking beyond belief?
Mine does constantly. Every summer Link gets a rash on her backside that is horrible and the stink, ugh.
Do you?
Wash your dog one day, just to have the stink return the next? Wait weeks between bathing your dog because his skin gets so dry and flaky? Hate bathing your dog because you rinse and rinse and rinse...and still can't get him completely rinsed?
Need help?

We usually take Link to the local groomers up the street to get her bathed and shorn but with the times being what they are, I don’t think I can afford that anymore. I definitely will be looking further into the Dinovitedog shampoo.
The ingredient list is full of all natural Ingredients: Saponified coconut oil, Saponified olive oil, Saponified jojoba oil, vegetable gum/glycerine extract, aloe extract, yucca extract, peppermint extract, lavender extract, tea tree oil, bergamot extract, geranium extract, patchouli extract, sandalwood extract and rosemary extract.
And the price is right! For the cost of getting Link shampooed I can buy 5 bottles of this product. Now I may need to get a bigger bathtub, LOL.
Almost 20 years ago, our local High School (the one from which both my kids graduated), had a fire. It happened before we moved to California so I wasn’t around when it happened and I don’t know many of the finer details.
So why then am I talking about it if I don’t know what happened? I’ll tell you why. My friend (we’ll call her Lou) worked there during that time and as a result of that fire she was exposed to asbestos and has had multiple breathing problems since then and other medical complications. Asbestos exposure is linked to a very dangerous form of lung cancer called Mesothelioma. It can affect both workers and their families. Mesothelioma is most common in among workers in the shipbuilding industry, construction, auto mechanics, contractors, and demolition but just the exposure she had would be enough.
Lou (not her real name but yes she is a real person), ended up getting transferred to another high school in the city almost 5 years later, which is where we met. She has remained a school district employee and is now contemplating retirement. She has had more and more medical complications throughout the years, some of which have never been explained. Engorged swelling of her legs and hands (gout was ruled out, her salt intake diminished to nothing), a mini stroke or two (they aren’t saying for certain the second one was an actual stroke), insomnia, and so on and so on and so on.
I first saw information about Mesothelioma on the back of a city bus. My initial thought was OMG, I bet that is what is happening with Lou. So I read up on it and checked out the Wikipedia page which explains it as "a form of cancer that is almost always caused by exposure to asbestos". It goes on to explain the symptoms as "shortness of breath due to pleural effusion (fluid between the lung and the chest wall) or chest wall pain, and general symptoms such as weight loss".
Unfortunately (fortunately?) she doesn’t match those symptoms, as a matter of fact, she has put on weight and no matter of exercising and watching her diet seems to make it go away. So, with the further research I realized I didn’t need to rush out and refer her to a Mesothelioma Lawyer.
Lou remains in a state of suspension. Her symptoms are not commiserate with the asbestos exposure and her lungs have not been affected. The poor thing has been prodded and tested and poked and medicated. Perhaps one day, someone somewhere will figure it out. In the meantime, I will continue to be a friend and make her as happy and comfortable as possible.
This has not been a good day. Something that was supposed to happen, that someone in a position of making it happen said would happen, didn't happen, mainly because that someone renigged on her word and now I am not only back to square one I think I may have moved into negative numbers.
I have also made the decision I spoke about earlier, more on that another time. On top of all this, today's is Adam's bday and he is refusing to go out for a traditional birthday dinner. Then to top it off, my daughter told me "Fuck you" today. Doesn't that just put the cherry on top of the shit pile?
In an effort to relax, I turn to my computer (it seems to be my closest confidante of late). I found these cool Singing Bowls at Silver Sky. Tradition holds that each Crystal Singing Bowl is manufactured to create a beautiful song perfect for meditation and healing. I could sure use some meditation and healing right now. They have many different types of relaxation methods most related to Yoga and such. I have tried Yoga once and it was simply not my cup of tea. Let's just say I had more coming out of me, than I would like to emit in public.
this cool video I found on You Tube shows you the cool sounds, I could start relaxing now.
“Walking, walking, seems so easy now, but I remember when I was small and I did not know how. I would take two steps and then fall down and bump my bottom on the ground.”
Those are song lyrics that were on a kid’s cd when Adam was little, and I guess is one that Caitlyn listens to at Josh’s house, cuz I heard her singing it the other day. It is also, kinda how I felt about the big walk I took.
After the March of Dimes walk last week, I thought I was definitely going to be incapacitated forever. I couldn’t imaging ever being able to walk any distance again. But guess what? That walk didn’t kill me. Yeah, I was sore as hell for days afterwards, but had I taken a more disciplined approach to it, I would have been able to work my way up to 3 miles instead of doing it right off the bat.
I am making a commitment to you, my readers (and I know some of you will actually hold me to this), to get out and walk EVERYDAY. Not 3 miles, yet, but around the block, around the mall (maybe not the mall, I hate the mall), just around. I enjoy walking with someone, even if it is just pushing the baby’s stroller. But they are hardly around, so I will be on my own.
I have found the website BeeWell Miles .com where I can not only keep track of my progress in walking, but from 4/1/09-10/31/09, Bumble Bee Foods will donate $0.15/mile for every mile logged at BeeWellMiles.com (up to $200,000) to help Breast Cancer Network of Strength provide emotional support to those who can't wait for tomorrow's cure. So it is good not only for me, but I am doing good for others as well.
Who is gonna join with me? It is very easy, just got to Beewllmiles.com, log in, and start entering how many miles you walk each day. You can also keep track of your nutrition intake and other exercises.
Perhaps this is the kick in the butt I need. Perhaps not, but there is only one way to find out.
Swine Flu or H1N1 or Mexican Flu or Pandemic Flu, whatever you wanna call it, it's here.
I was online with Erika earlier and she got notification of a confirmed case in her area. At the sametime, I saw a confirmed case at the Marine base in San Bernadino. My friend has reservations for a family reunion at a resort in Cancun and her entire family is in limbo over whether they should go or not. The airline will not refund the miles used to purchase the tickets. I told her to just go and stay in the room. She could also use swine flu kits for everyone for the trip to and from on the plane.
For normal everyday care, I would just be sure to keep washing your hands regularly and stay out of places with recycled air as much as possible. If you must use public transportation or travel somewhere then swine flu kits could be a good idea for you as well.
